Umeeverse Newsletter #1
Welcome to the Umeeverse! We figured that since we’re working so hard towards Umee’s mainnet, it’s the perfect time to begin sharing regular updates with the community. You guys deserve it and we want to make sure you’re in the loop for all the milestones we’ve accomplished and set out to accomplish in the near future. That said, this biweekly update will be known as “The Umeeverse Newsletter” from here on out. So, let’s get started!
Testnet
We launched our testnet on August 20 and it has gained increased activity in the past weeks! For those interested in our testnet or wanting to run a validator, join our discussion under #technical on discord. Betanet Upgrade
On Thursday, 09/16, we will launch a new betanet, umee-betanet-2. Updates from the new chain include:
- Updating max validator set size to 150
- Shortening the governance voting period to 3–5 days (so we can do live upgrades easily in the future)
- Fixing the minting denom (currently stake, it will be uumee)
- Updating to SDK v0.44.x
- Updating to latest IBC
- Updating to latest gravity bridge
- Deploying gravity bridge on Rinkeby instead of Gorli (So users can use the Ethereum Reflection app with their bridged assets!)

Community Programs
- Our team currently has several incentivized testnet programs in the works. We are finalizing the details, but that said, keep your eyes peeled for an official announcement with details!
- We are also finalizing community programs such as grant and ambassador programs. We want to engage and grow with our community as we continue on our journey!
Cosmos Twitter Support
- As Umee establishes the ability to borrow and lend Cosmos assets, we’re seeing the excitement from the community! Thank you, Jim!
Umee User Interface
- Our product team is working diligently on the last stages of our Umee network interface. We’re striving for the testnet interface to be launched within the coming weeks for our non-coders. Cross chain lending and borrowing will be clicks of a button soon enough!
AMA
- Last week, Umee founder/CEO Brent Xu, had a conversation with Cosmos Youtuber Cryptocito this about all things Umee. We’ll let you know when the video drops so you can share it with all the fellow Cosomauts out there!
Whitepaper Translation
- We can’t say enough how amazing our community is. We had community member @ponimajushij of Distributed Validators Synctems translate our whitepaper into Russian! Our Russian community is growing rapidly and we’re so happy that we’re beginning to have resources in their native language. Read the translation here.
